My Favorite Ginger Snaps

INGREDIENTS

  • ¾  c. shortening
  • ¾  c. sugar
  • ¾  c. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 ½ c. flour
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 ½  tsp. ginger
  • ½ tsp. cloves
  • ½ tsp. allspice

INSTRUCTIONS

Cream shortening and sugar. Add molasses and egg. Beat well. Sift flour, salt and spices; add to molasses, sugar, and shortening. Mix and chill. Roll dough into small balls one inch diameter. Dip into granulated sugar and place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
